Vincenzo BIONDI (Lucca 1804 - Florence 1870) "Alma Redentoris Mater" (Madonna del Baldacchino) Original etching reproducing the central detail of the painting by Raffaello Sanzio known as the "Madonna del Baldacchino" today in the collections of the Palatine Gallery in Florence . Nice copy of a test before the final draft, with the letters of the title still open and without the words on the lower edge of the address of the publisher Bardi and the indication of the location of the painting in Palazzo Pitti, with the dedication to Carlo Lodovico of Bourbon cited with the title of Duke of Lucca and therefore datable to after 1824, printed with careful inking on an uncut sheet of unp laid paper, in a generally perfect state of conservation. This is the first engraving made by this talented pupil of Raffaello Morghen of which he made a delightful portrait in his career. For a comparison with a specimen of the final state, see the card http://www.beniculturali.marche.it/Ricerca.aspx?ids=50502 which describes that of the Civic Museums of Palazzo Bonaccorsi in Macerata. Bibliography: Höper “Raphael und die Folgen” Stuttgart 2001 page 300 n ° D21.6. Milesi "Dictionary of Engravers" Bergamo 1989 page 73. Measurements in mm: 485 x 325
